Supporting Seniors in Langford & Colwood
Program Overview
Westshore Better at Home helps seniors (65+) remain independent and connected by offering non-medical support services. The program is funded by the Government of BC and managed by United Way Healthy Aging, with services coordinated locally by Pacific Centre Family Services Association.
Services Offered
Transportation
- For medical appointments or local grocery trips
- Must be able to get in/out of a vehicle with minimal assistance
- Not wheelchair accessible
- Free of charge (volunteer-based)
Friendly Visits
- In-person or by phone
- Free of charge (volunteer-based)
Light Housekeeping
- Sliding scale fee based on household income
- Some may qualify for 100% subsidy
Navigation & Peer Support
- Assistance with information and referrals
- Help with government forms
- Support with transportation planning
- Help finding community resources
- Guidance in navigating supports for low-income seniors
- Assistance with tax forms
Eligibility & Registration
- For seniors aged 65+ living in Langford or Colwood
- Pre-registration required
- Process includes:
- Phone or home visit
- Application to assess suitability
- Seniors must apply independently by calling
