About PCFSA

Welcome to Pacific Centre Family Services Association (PCFSA)  a non-profit, registered charitable organization that has been supporting individuals, children, youth, and families across Southern Vancouver Island since 1968. Our primary focus is the Westshore and Sooke communities, with service locations in Colwood, Langford, and Sooke. Our work takes place on the traditional territories of the L’kwungen-speaking peoples, the Sc’ianew Nation, and the T’Sou-ke Nation.

Our story began in Metchosin as the Island Child Development and Research Centre, which operated a residential treatment program for children and youth experiencing mental health challenges.

Over the years, the organization grew, changed names and expanded its programs. In the 1970s and 1980s, we worked mainly out of Havenwood, overlooking Esquimalt Lagoon. New community programs were developed, including a summer day camp for children, and in 1988 the organization officially became Pacific Centre Family Services Association.

In 2014, PCFSA purchased 324 Goldstream Avenue, and in 2017 the new Centre for Wellbeing opened, creating a permanent home for our counselling and social service programs.

The next major chapter came with the creation of the Westshore Community Health Centre. Funded in 2021 and opened in June 2022, the Community Health Centre brought primary health care together with PCFSA’s existing counselling and social supports.

More than five decades later, PCFSA looks very different from the small children’s treatment program that began in Metchosin, but the core idea remains the same: responding to what people in our community need and finding practical ways to support them.

That history continues to shape our vision, mission, and values today.
