Safer Families Program
Our Safer Families program includes work with men which is designed to stop the abuse of women by their intimate partners and improve women's safety. Our program is based upon an established model that incorporates a focus on safet and accountability and measures change through the program.
We will encourage and support learning and personal growth in order to develop
* respect for self and others
* accurate self awareness
* empathic recognition and responses
* the capacity to live with integrity and dignity
Counsellors provide 1:1 and group counselling based on the needs and assessment of men, who have behaved abusively in an intimate relationship. We also support the female partners, offering individual assessment and a drop in gruop service. The women's program raises awareness of the dynamics of abuse and supports women to make healthy choices that protect the safety and emotional well being of themselves and their children. These services will be provided to men and women residing within the Capital Regional District. Referrals for the Family Violence Project are open to the community at large. There is a fee for the men's program and subsidies are available. Call 250-391-4343 or 1-866-478-8357 for more information.
